INDEPENDENCE - Deputies are investigating a late-night report of shots being fired in Tangipahoa Parish that left a car riddled with bullet holes. A Brookhaven murder suspect is in custody after running from police in McComb for almost three hours. Police say Rashan Smith of Brookhaven, ran from a traffic stop Tuesday night, leading to a police pursuit. Smith wrecked the vehicle at U.S. Highway 570 and Robert Ayres Road near Southwest Mississippi Community College and fled on foot into woods nearby, a Brookhaven detective told WLBT.

Man allegedly stole over $1,000 in tools from multiple Lowe's locations
HAMMOND - Police are searching for a man they say stole over $1,000 worth of supplies from Lowe's. Store employees say the same man has stolen from two other locations. According to the Hammond Police Department, the theft happened on Feb. 9 at Lowe's in Hammond. Officers said the man was seen on security footage filling a plastic tote with various tools and other items totaled at $1,045.98.
