We’re talking red beans, and things are getting a little spicy — especially the bragging. “It’s great to have the Slidell Police Department as coordinators with us, but they continue to try to beat us in things, and they struggle. About the only thing they can beat us in is a doughnut-eating contest,” St. Tammany Fire Chief Chris Kaufmann teased, looking ahead to Aug. 5 when he and his firefighters will compete against a team of Slidell police, among others. “They can’t beat us in cooking or in softball or football.
