Brewer stuns unbeaten Arlington Heights to clinch a share of district title

For the first time since 2021, White Settlement Brewer has clinched a share of the district championship. The Bears did it with style, defeating previously unbeaten Fort Worth Arlington Heights 27-8 Thursday at Brewer Stadium. Brewer (8-2, 6-1) will split the title with Heights (9-1, 6-1) and Fort Worth Wyatt in a three-way tie: Brewer beat Heights, Heights beat Wyatt, and Wyatt beat Brewer. “Super proud of our guys and so happy for our community,” Brewer head coach Marte Amrine Jr. said. “So happy for our program, our kids and our coaches. Fort Worth police investigate early morning shooting that injured 1

Fort Worth police are investigating a shooting that injured one man early Friday, officials said. Officers were called to the emergency room at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital about 4:45 a.m. after medical staff reported a patient with a gunshot wound. The man was shot in the leg, according to police, and is expected to survive. “The offense location is currently unclear, and the victim is not cooperating with the investigation at this time,” police said in an email. Detectives from the Gun Violence Unit are looking into the incident.

A woman was injured in an apparent family violence-related stabbing Wednesday afternoon, according to Fort Worth police. Officers responded to the 1200 block of Grand Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. and found a woman who’d been stabbed in the back of the head. The officers “confirmed that this was a domestic situation,” police said. Police records show that an 18-year-old suspect was later arrested in connection with the incident. Raymond Godinez was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon family violence. The injured woman was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive, according to police.

32-year-old man injured in shooting at Fort Worth apartments, police say

A 32-year-old man was shot and injured Wednesday night at an east Fort Worth apartment complex, and a suspect is in custody, police said. Officers were called to Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital after a man showed up with a gunshot wound. They learned that the shooting took place at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Sandy Lane, according to police. The address shows it occurred at the Sandy Oaks Apartments. Absolutely nothing about high prices will change Jan. 1 when new faces take over at the Texas Capitol and the Tarrant County Courthouse.
