These 5 N.J. kids are headed to Scripps National Spelling Bee
Five of New Jersey’s top young spellers are headed to Maryland later this month to compete in the 96th Scripps National Spelling Bee, contest officials announced Thursday. The 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee — which will be held in National Harbor, Maryland, from May 28 to 30 — includes a field of 245 competitors, officials said. It is the largest bee since 2019.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J. — Chief Jason Massimino has resigned from his position as Chief of Police for the Berkeley Heights Police Department effective May 10, 2024, following a period of paid leave. His resignation has created a vacancy in the leadership of the department.
