Man shot in Minneapolis' Near North neighborhood
MINNEAPOLIS -- Police say a man was shot in Minneapolis' Near North neighborhood Sunday morning.The shooting happened just before 5:15 a.m. near Eighth and Penn avenues, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.One man was injured and hospitalized, but is expected to be OK.Police recovered a gun at the scene, but no one has been arrested. The shooting is being investigated.
Brooklyn Park SWAT team responded to 2 unconnected incidents Saturday night
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. – The Brooklyn Park SWAT team responded to two unconnected incidents at around the same time about two miles apart Saturday night.According to the city's police department, officers first responded to a robbery at knifepoint on the 8200 block of Zane Avenue North around 9:50 p.m. Officers searched for the suspect and found him barricaded inside a residence on the 8100 block of Yates Avenue North. The city's SWAT team was asked to assist, and was eventually able to coax the suspect out of the residence. Police said the incident is being investigated.Around 10 p.m. on the 7200 block of Zane Avenue North, SWAT team members executed a "high risk search warrant" and "safely secured" a residence, the police department said. The warrant was connected to the killing of a 19-year-old that occurred early Friday morning. Police arrested a suspect in that homicide Friday evening.

Man arrested in connection to Brooklyn Park homicide
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. -- A suspect has been arrested in connection to a homicide in Brooklyn Park early Friday morning.Police say they arrested a 31-year-old man around 6:30 p.m. Friday. There was a report of people smoking and using drugs near the 8100 block of Zane Avenue North, and police recognized the suspect as soon as they arrived.The man fled into an apartment and tried to escape off a balcony, but was surrounded and taken into custody. He is currently in Brooklyn Park city jail on suspicion of second-degree murder.Police say that the suspect was playing a game of cards with the victim, who was 19 years old, when he allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the teenager. Officials say it's not clear what prompted the shooting.The victim was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the hospital.It was the second homicide of 2023 in Brooklyn Park.

PAUL, Minn. -- Police say a man was stabbed to death inside a home in St. Paul's Frogtown neighborhood Saturday night.Officers were called to a home on the 1000 block of Charles Avenue just after 10:30 p.m., the St. Paul Police Department said. They found a man with stab wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medics.Police located and arrested a suspect, and said the suspect and victim possibly knew each other.SPPD Sgt.
