Baseball: Verona walks off against Sun Prairie West
The Verona baseball team outdueled Middleton and split two games with Sun Prairie West to stay in second place in the Big Eight Conference. Verona (9-3, 7-2 Big Eight) edged Middleton 5-3 on Saturday, April 27, at Middleton High School. The Wildcats lost to Sun Prairie West 7-4 on April 25, in Sun Prairie. Verona beat Sun Prairie West in a walk-off 5-4 on Wednesday, April 24, at Stampfl Field. The Wildcats beat DeForest 11-5 in a nonconference game on Monday, April 29, at DeForest High School.
Boys golf: Lakeside shoots season-low to finish 2nd at Lake Ripley; Lake Mills ties for 3rd
CAMBRIDGE — Lakeside Lutheran easily established a new season-best score and Lake Mills tied its previous lowest at Monday’s Capitol Conference boys golf mini meet, which saw the Warriors place second and the L-Cats tie for third at Lake Ripley Country Club. The School District of Fort Atkinson recently honored eight members of the district’s Safety Patrol Program. Students honored as April’s safety patrollers of the month, include: Zeller Daniel and Briella Denniston, both of Purdy Elementary School; Harrison Scheibel and Alondra Rivera Zuniga, both of Barrie Elementary School; Zoey Worden and Ena Schiro, both of Luther Elementary School, and Amelia Sturtzen and Piper Prisk, both of Rockwell Elementary School.
