The boosters of the Cambridge/Deerfield United Soccer Program will be hosting a field rededication for the soccer field at Cambridge High School on Friday, May 3 before the girls soccer game.

“We wanted to give a good highlight to the large group of people that helped make that happen,” said booster co-chair Brian Hein-Beardsley. “It’s been since the fall of 2015 since (the field) was put in, so there’s a lot of new families that might not know how much work went into that.”

The soccer field, separate from the football field, was created during the fall of 2015. The cost came to $140,000 after lights, the sound system, bleachers and scoreboard were installed and added to the field.

“A group of parents got together and wanted to have a dedicated field,” said Hein-Beardsley of how the field was created. “It took a lot of fundraising both through families that were involved with it and a lot of businesses.”

The girls soccer team will face Jefferson at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, May 3 at Cambridge High School.
