WATCH: Tranquilized Mountain Lion Falls From Tree in Idaho
It was raining mountain lions in Pocatello, Idaho last week. After concerned residents spotted a young male mountain lion in a neighborhood tree, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game stepped in to humanely remove the mountain lion from the area. Fish and Game tranquilized the mountain lion using a dart, and then they caught him as he fell from the tree.
Crystal Springs Pond in Bingham County to be drawn down for county road repairs
SPRINGFIELD — Crystal Springs Pond will be slowly drawn down to help with repairs to Edwards Road beginning Tuesday, according to a news release from Idaho Fish and Game. The repairs will be near Springfield Fish Hatchery, a popular fishing destination in Bingham County southwest of Pingree that has year-round trout fishing. Fishing at Crystal Springs Pond will be impacted during this time, the news release said. Idaho Fish and Game expects to have the repairs completed by May 3. When the repairs are completed, it will restock Crystal Springs Pond with rainbow trout. More information can be found by calling the Southeast Region Fish and Game office at 208-232-4703.
Idaho State Bar reprimands Custer County prosecutor
Justin Oleson, the prosecuting attorney for Custer County, who also has a private law practice in Blackfoot, has been given a public reprimand by the Idaho State Bar. The reprimand follows a March 28 decision by the bar’s professional conduct board. That board conducted a two-day hearing in mid-February, which stemmed from a complaint the bar filed against Oleson last September alleging actions by Oleson that violated the bar’s rules of professional conduct. The bar sought to have Oleson disbarred from the practice of law in Idaho.

Chubbuck man charged with fentanyl delivery, other crimes following service of warrant
POCATELLO — A man police say was found in possession of more than a pound of fentanyl pills has been charged with multiple felonies. Geoffrey William Ancheta, 39, faces felony charges for possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm and harboring a wanted felon, court records show. He has also been charged with a misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.
