100 years agoThirty local baseball fans met the evening of May 16 in the green room of the Manhattan Cafe to lay plans for the organization of a twilight league of six teams to play a schedule of 15 weeks throughout the summer of 1924. “Joe Paddock, Idaho Falls High School football coach, was the toastmaster and gave valuable advice on how to successfully carry out the schedule and maintain a maximum of interest and enthusiasm,” the Salt Lake Tribune reported. The captains of the prospective teams were as follows: White Star, Brac Roberts; Manhattan, Kenneth Timpson; Spud Alley, H.W. Rothwell; Bonneville Auto, Ben Melqwuist; Barbers, Joe Steer; Oregon Short Line, Tom Farmer.
