Classes canceled at Ririe school following fire

RIRIE — Classes at Ririe Junior-Senior High School have been canceled Thursday following a small fire that occurred inside the building overnight. The fire originated in a custodial closet after rechargeable batteries overheated, according to Ririe School District 252. Nobody was injured and damage to the building was minor. Rexburg brothers arrested for allegedly beating and attempting to kidnap a man

REXBURG — A Rexburg man was reportedly kidnapped and beaten by two brothers until deputies stepped in. Ignacio Orozco Perez, 57, and Martin Osbaldo Orozco, 58, are each charged with felonies for aggravated battery, aggravated assault and first-degree kidnapping. Martin has an additional felony charge for grand theft. Ignacio is represented by a private attorney, Jeromy Stafford. 24-year-old man charged after allegedly firing multiple rounds at victim in intersection

IDAHO FALLS — A 24-year-old man is now facing up to 35 years in prison after allegedly firing a gun at another vehicle. Kaden Ty Thompson is facing two felony charges, which include aggravated assault and unlawful discharge of a firearm at a dwelling house, occupied building, vehicle or mobile home. East Idaho voters approved seven of eight local ballot measures in the Nov. 3 election, according to unofficial results. The only measure that did not pass was the Bear Lake Fire District permanent override levy in Bear Lake County. It needed a two-thirds majority and received 34.43 percent.
