Sharing My Story - Aidan and Helena Brown
Our decision on whether or not Oregon State would be considered home was fairly easy. We were raised as diehard Beaver fans who grew up driving for what seemed like forever to watch the football games, getting signatures from the soccer team, and divided our school recess teams based on who you cheered for on rivalry day. We are sisters from Happy Valley, Oregon that always dreamed of playing college soccer together and Oregon State women's soccer let us do just that. We finally got to live out our childhood dreams of playing in the Pac-12 together whilst being surrounded by a fan base we too were a part of. Although we have had some major tribulations, including Helena overcoming two ACL surgeries, Corvallis still felt just as special thanks to the wonderful staff and team cheering her on through these tough periods. This place embodies what a college town should be. What makes Corvallis and Oregon State special is the people who support the program. One of our favorite moments from our time here was being on Paul Lorenz and signing posters for tons of little kids who remind us so much of ourselves when we were their age. It's a surreal feeling being the person your younger self admires. Helena and I have been extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to play three seasons side by side. I am a junior whilst H is a grad student. It is hard to put into words what OSU means to us. It has been the greatest experience of our lives, and we wouldn't have wanted to spend our time together at any other university. GO BEAVS.
