Timberline Lodge attic, roof catch fire; extent of damage unknown
The attic of Timberline Lodge caught fire Thursday night, April 18, leading to a multi-agency response to douse the flames and protect the historic building. Around 9:30 p.m. reports were made of flames and smoke spotted near the roofline of the lodge, located on Mount Hood. Fire crews from Hoodland Fire, Clackamas Fire, Gresham Fire and Estacada Fire responded to protect the building. Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze and preserve the historic assets. No one was trapped within the building or injured during the fire. Employees of the lodge were the first to discover the flames and call 911. It is unclear what sparked the fire or how extensive the damage is. This story will be updated as more information is made available.

PF&R battles two-alarm fire at St. Johns wood recycling plant
Portland Fire & Rescue crews responded to a large two-alarm fire at a wood recycling plant in the St. Johns area early Thursday, April 18. Fire officials said the incident began as a sawdust and pallet fire that has so far required two fire units.
