We had Pizza Week, and Burger Week, and now it’s time to put the Sandwich in the spotlight! It’s Portland Sandwich Week. There are over 30 restaurants participating this go-round. Here’s how it works: Each restaurant comes up with a special sandwich, and they’re only 8$. The idea is to get people to try new places. It’s not just Portland. Residents of Portland, Oregon, have been advised to avoid one of the nation's largest rivers after roughly half a million gallons of sewage leaked into the water system, local officials said Monday afternoon. The reason for the advisory, officials said, is because there could be "increased bacteria" in the water. Woman serving life sentence dies at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility
The Oregon Department of Corrections reported the death of an adult in custody at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility on Sunday, June 4. According to a press release, Amanda Stott-Smith, 45, died in custody the morning of June 4. A cause of death has not been announced, and will be determined by a medical examiner, according to the release. Stott-Smith had been in custody since April 23, 2010 and was serving a life sentence after intentionally dropping her two children from the Sellwood Bridge. Her daughter, who was 7 at the time, survived, but her 4-year-old son was killed. This is the third death of an adult in custody at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility since October.
