Man charged with disrupting youth basketball game, assaulting school police officer
WEST HAZLETON — A West Hazleton man was arraigned Wednesday on allegations he disrupted a youth basketball game and assaulted a Hazleton Area school police officer. Heath Allen Houseknecht, of Winters Avenue, was in the bleachers watching his son play in a youth basketball game inside the West Hazleton Elementary/Middle School on March 19, according to court records.

An underground coal fire has been burning beneath Centralia since 1962. The town sits on top of one of the largest deposits of anthracite coal in America, the Mammoth Vein. Experts have said there is enough coal there to keep the fire burning for 500 years, or even longer.

Man Succumbs To Injuries Suffered In Friday Accident
Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred near Bethany Beach on Friday night. Officials said on April 19, 2024, at approximately 6:58 p.m., a Ford F-350 pick-up truck, pulling a trailer, was driving southbound in the right lane on Coastal Highway south of Dune Road. At the same time a Jaguar F-type was driving southbound on Coastal Highway, behind the F-350. For reasons under investigation, the driver of the Jaguar lost control causing him to hit the trailer being pulled by the F-350. As a result, the trailer disconnected from the F-350 and overturned according to police.
