Deadly crash in Carbon County
CARBON COUNTY, Pa. — At least one person is dead after a crash in Carbon County. Officials with the Carbon County Coroner's Office responded to the crash along I-80 Westbound in Kidder Township shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday night. There is no word yet on what caused the crash.

The recent arrest of Middleport resident Shawn M. Tobin has cast a spotlight on the wider crisis of drug addiction plaguing small communities. On November 22, during a traffic stop in Port Carbon, Tobin, a 37-year-old passenger in a Ford, was found with drugs by state troopers. In a shocking turn of events, he grabbed and consumed the substances before attempting to flee on foot.
