Pottsville man charged with choking girlfriend in overnight assault
A Pottsville man was charged with strangulation and other crimes after police said he fled on foot when they investigated a domestic disturbance early Monday. Police said they responded at 304 Fairview St., Pottsville, at about 2:20 a.m. for a domestic disturbance in progress. While en route, officers were advised the male actor, later identified as Dezmond Sharmar Reams, 30, had left the residence, according to police Detective Joseph Welsh.

A pedestrian struck by a vehicle Thursday night in Lansford was pronounced dead early Saturday morning after succumbing to his injuries, the Lehigh County coroner said. Kevon C. A Bethlehem man died Saturday afternoon while tubing in the Lehigh River in Carbon County, according to a news release.
