Popular gas station and convenience store breaking ground in Marathon Monday
MARATHON, Wis. (WSAW) - If you’ve taken 29 west through Marathon lately, you’re probably wondering what is being built right off the highway. Well, the wait is over to find out. It’s a Kwik Trip and groundbreaking will start on Monday. The new location is at the northeast corner of Hwy 29 and Hwy 107 right off exit 156. According to Public Relations for Kwik Trip, the store will be 9200 square feet. There will be 10 fuel pumps, three diesel pumps, and a truck stop, and it’s been a few years since Marathon had a grocery store, they’re hoping this location will help fill a void.

(WSAW) - It was one of the warmest Mother’s Days on record in parts of Central Wisconsin, as highs rose into the low 80s in Wausau, while the mid 80s during the afternoon on Sunday in Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point. It was a top 5 warmest holiday in those spots. In the wake of this warm start to the week, a First Alert as winds have turned to the northwest, ushering in wildfire smoke from western Canada. The smoke will cause hazy skies in North Central Wisconsin Sunday night into the day on Monday. If you have health or breathing challenges, you’ll want to limit time outdoors through early Monday evening. In addition, avoid opening windows, as the air outside will not be refreshing, but rather include the smoke from the wildfires.
Thick Wildfire Smoke Spreads into the Northern U.S.
Wildfire smoke from Canada reached down and over parts of the northern plains. This led to moderate to unhealthy air in places like Appleton, Minneapolis, and Wausau this morning as a result, portions of Wisconsin and Minnesota are still under air quality alerts through late Monday morning because of the smoke. If you are sensitive to smoke or have underlying health conditions, please stay indoors and consider wearing a mask (like an N-95) to protect yourself from the particulates.
