Initial appearance for suspect in Wausau shooting postponed
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - An initial appearance for a man accused of shooting a man and driving away from the scene has been postponed. Online court records showed Zach Tesky was due in court Wednesday, however the date has been removed from online jail records. Tesky remains in the Marathon County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
First Alert Weather: Elevated fire danger followed by showers & risk of storms
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - The quiet and bright weather will be replaced by clouds, along with times of showers, as well as possible storms going into the upcoming weekend. Clouds will be rolling in early Friday, but much of the day will be dry, however breezy. Scattered showers, with a chance of storms Friday night into Saturday morning. Saturday is going to be warmer and windy. There is a risk of scattered showers and storms. Some storms could be strong to severe during the afternoon to the evening on Saturday if they develop. Sunday is shaping up to be the wetter day of the weekend. The umbrella will still be good to have handy for Monday and into the middle of next week, with additional chances of showers.

WAUSAU − Last summer, the Wisconsin State Legislature and Gov. Tony Evers reached a compromise on sweeping literacy reform for Wisconsin students. The reform, known as The Right to Read Act or 2023 Wisconsin Act 20, requires “science-based early reading instruction in both universal and intervention settings” and specifically prohibits reading instruction using “three-cueing instruction,” according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction website.

Authorities search for suspect in Mosinee gas drive-off case
MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAW) - Authorities are searching for a suspect who drove off without paying for gas. Investigators said it happened twice about 45 minutes apart on Jan. 19. Police say a man driving a red Ford F-150 pickup truck filled up at Lietz’s Shell convenience store in Mosinee and made no attempt to pay for the fuel. The theft of gas was more than $200.
