WALTHAM - Construction crews in Waltham uncovered several cannonballs Monday morning.The crews were digging in the area for a new electrical conduit when they found a section of pipe and metal balls of various sizes.The Bomb Squad was called to the area on Foundry Avenue and was on the scene for most of the day. Buildings in the area and a nearby shopping plaza were evacuated.ย They cannonballs were removed and taken to a safe location for disposal.A Hazmat team was also sent to the scene due to concerns about environmental hazards, but none were detected.

The driver of a car that crashed into a school bus in Wayland Monday morning could face charges, according to the townโs police chief. Emergency services were called to the crash near 27 Pequot Road a little before 7:45 a.m., Police Chief Ed Burman said. The bus was stopped when a white Kia crashed into it head-on, he said.
