Central Pennsylvania will transition from mild conditions Friday to a noticeably cooler weekend, with the first below-normal daytime highs in three weeks expected Saturday. According to the National Weather Service in State College, a weak cold front will clear the region Friday morning, while a more significant cooldown arrives Saturday accompanied by lake-enhanced rain and possible wet snow showers in elevated areas.

The map comes from the European extended ensemble, often called the Euro Weeklies. It is a 1,104-hour forecast, which works out to 46 days into the future. Snow totals that far out are not a reliable forecast and should be treated as entertainment at best.

National Weather Service expects minor river rises, with most locations avoiding flooding.
