Shamokin, Pa. — Three people were charged after they drove at high speeds through Shamokin with three young children. Darwin Sanchez, 23, of Shamokin, was pulled over on March 13 after a police officer observed him traveling at a high rate of speed and blowing through several stop signs on Shamokin Street. Danville honors service members on Memorial Day
Danville, Pa. — Under gray skies, Danville's Memorial Day ceremony went off without the threatened rain, as veterans, American Legion members, and onlookers honored those fallen Monday morning. The ceremony began at the Riverside Bridge at 10 a.m. with an invocation by Anthony Turel Jr., a U.S. Air Force veteran and VFW chaplain, followed by a tribute of flowers tossed from the bridge to honor those who were buried or lost at sea. Second-graders Ava Lynch and Naila Budic, along with pre-K student Piper Brown served as the flower girls for the ceremony. Danville's American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard gave the rifle salute before U.S. Navy veteran and Honor Guard Bugler Marvin Sassaman played "Taps." Following the bridge ceremony, the parade traveled through downtown Danville. The Memorial Park Ceremony, which was to take place at the park on Bloom Street, was moved to the Danville Middle School due to weather.

Police seek information on incident at Walmart
Selinsgrove, Pa. — Police are seeking information regarding an incident at the Selinsgrove Walmart store in which an 8-year-old boy was hurt. Trp. Jeffery Tice of state police at Selinsgrove said at 10:20 p.m. May 10, two juvenile males threw a large rubber ball to each other across the aisles. Woman racks up eighth round of retail theft charges
Lewisburg, Pa. — A Williamsport woman who previously was convicted seven times for retail theft was charged again. Trp. Brett Harvey of state police at Milton says Arilyn M. Kurtz, 40, was at the Lewisburg Walmart store on April 12 when she under-rang items causing the store a loss of $271. Kurtz used a lower-priced UPC code that she put in the palm of her hand and began ringing up items with it at self-checkout. Police said she scanned the altered UPC code eight times as she rang up higher-priced items. The UPC code was for a $3 item. Police filed 18 felony retail theft charges at the office of District Judge Jeffrey A. Rowe in Lewisburg. Kurtz had previously been convicted seven times for retail theft, according to police.
