Lewisburg, Pa. — A Williamsport woman who previously was convicted seven times for retail theft was charged again.

Trp. Brett Harvey of state police at Milton says Arilyn M. Kurtz, 40, was at the Lewisburg Walmart store on April 12 when she under-rang items causing the store a loss of $271. Kurtz used a lower-priced UPC code that she put in the palm of her hand and began ringing up items with it at self-checkout. Police said she scanned the altered UPC code eight times as she rang up higher-priced items. The UPC code was for a $3 item.

Police filed 18 felony retail theft charges at the office of District Judge Jeffrey A. Rowe in Lewisburg. Kurtz had previously been convicted seven times for retail theft, according to police. She is free on $5,000 unsecured bail.
