Amy Parsons to be paid $1.1M in resignation settlement | Exclusive

Colorado State University has agreed to pay President Amy Parsons $1.1 million for her resignation, the Coloradoan learned through an open-records request. Parsons formally announced her resignation Oct. 28 , six days after she and CSU System Chancellor Tony Frank signed a resignation settlement that requires the payment to Parsons be made, “minus any necessary withholdings,” by no later than Jan. 5, 2027. Parsons’ resignation will become effective Dec. 31, 2026, according to terms agreed to in the settlement that amended the five-year contract she signed when she was hired that would have continued through Jan. 31, 2028. Her annual salary is $686,238, according to the university's online compensation report . The settlement releases Parsons, Frank and the CSU System and its Board of Governors from any obligations that were contained in her original employment agreement. "The terms of President Parsons’ agreement reflect the remainder of her contract, which ran through January 2028, plus the equivalent of five months of salary in recognition of her significant achievements and long-term service to CSU," according to a statement from the CSU System that was shared with the Coloradoan by spokesperson Tiana Kennedy after this story's initial publication.
