WVFC play bingo at Belle Maison
Wednesday Volunteers for Family and Community met Oct. 30 for bingo at Belle Maison Nursing Home in Hammond. WVFC member Millie Meyers was the bingo caller for the event and WVFC members Gwen Domiano, Susan Melancon and Jean Johnson were on hand to provide assistance to bingo players. Following 10 rounds of bingo, the members served slices of cake to everyone present.

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a driver shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, November 25, according to Louisiana State Police. Troopers said Mervin Briggs, 44, of Kentwood, was killed. The crash happened on Highway 1058 near Highway 1059 in Tangipahoa Parish, according to LSP.

Local Traffic Alert: North Hoover Road Closure Begins Today for Bridge Reconstruction
The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has started constructing a new concrete bridge on North Hoover Road, says Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller. The existing timber bridge will be replaced, leading to the closure of North Hoover Road on November 27. The closure is approximately a mile south of Sisters Road and a third of a mile north of LA 22. The project, costing around $1.84 million, is expected to take several months.
