Decision 2026: Umatilla County election results

UMATILLA COUNTY – With preliminary votes in, two fire districts are ahead in the request for option tax funds while one is behind. Voters are saying yes to Umatilla County Fire District No. 1 with 52.61 percent of the vote and in Pilot Rock they are approving the local option tax overwhelmingly with 83.38 percent of the voters (including those in Lexington) approving the renewal.

Franklin County election results: Monty Huber leads in sheriff's race

The Franklin County undersheriff is winning a bid to be the next sheriff. Undersheriff Monty Huber and Connell Police Chief Chris Lee, both Republicans, are competing to replace outgoing Sheriff Jim Raymond in Tuesday’s election. The often outspoken sheriff announced his retirement earlier this year, and has thrown his support behind Huber. After the first night of counting, Huber has received 51%, or 7,796 votes, while Lee got 48%, or 7,223 votes. Write-in candidates received 1% of the vote. Huber has been a longtime fixture in the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. He’s spent 23 years working his way up from deputy to undersheriff. He’s served as a training officer, special investigations unit commander and SWAT commander. He’s been a part of the office’s reaccreditation process and helped create the bi-county sheriff’s posse. He’s also served as a U.S. Army Ranger and as a Connell city councilman. He said the sheriff’s office is in a good position right now. Updated Benton County WA vote count sees Ki-Be levy move toward passing

Results on election night showed that a levy to help Kiona-Benton City schools with operations and their attempt to get off of a state financial oversight list was headed toward failure by just two votes. That meant the race was too close to call, with 775 ballots in support of the levy and 777 ballots opposed. “I know it sounds funny,” Said Pete Peterson, Kiona-Benton’s Superintendent, “but I wasn’t shocked because our last few elections have been exceedingly close.” Now that the ballot counts have been updated, the levy is passing by 32 votes, or 50.6% in support and 49.4% opposed.
