SUV forced off the road near La Grande reminds drivers to pass trucks safely
LA GRANDE – Getting stuck behind a truck can be annoying. Getting run off the road when attempting to pass one is significantly worse. On Sunday, March 24, at around 10:30 p.m., the Oregon state police responded to a report of a vehicle being run off the road while attempting to pass a semi-truck along I-84. The incident took place near milepost 272 Westbound, just southeast of La Grande. The OSP description of the incident is as follows:

LA GRANDE – Charges are pending for a Canyon City man and a La Grande woman who were recently arrested for alleged drug activity. According to Oregon State Police documents, on March 19th, a vehicle driven by Kyle Steven Lloyd Morris, 25, of Canyon City was stopped on I-84 near milepost 265 near La Grande, for a window tint violation. Criminal indicators were observed by Oregon State Police, and Morris denied consent for Troopers to search the vehicle.

LA GRANDE – The La Grande Police Department has confirmed that three vehicles were damaged between the night of Thursday, March 21st, and the early morning of Friday, March 22nd, during two separate incidents. The first incident occurred at a vehicle lot at 1415 Adams Ave. The LGPD received a report that someone had cut the fence to the storage lot and used a rock to break the window of a vehicle there. Nothing was actually reported stolen from the vehicle itself.
Two members of La Grande girls wrestling named to Team Oregon
LA GRANDE — Two members of La Grande’s state championship girls wrestling team will represent Oregon at the wrestling national championships this summer. Carleigh Radke and Kierstyn Azure are two of the 22 athletes that earned spots on Team Oregon to compete at the 2024 U.S Marine Corps Junior and 16U National Championships.
Island City hydrant flushing begins April 3
ISLAND CITY – (Release from the City of Island City) The City of Island City will be conducting fire hydrant flushing starting Wednesday, April 3, 2024, and concluding Friday, April 26, 2024. This spans a 4-week period, and flushing will only be conducted Mondays through Fridays, 9am – 4pm. This is necessary to ensure adequate water volume and pressure for fire suppression and to detect any potential problems in the water system.
