Sheriff McKinley confident with theft investigation
JOHN DAY – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is still undergoing an investigation into a theft that occurred near Childress Loop and Highway 26, west of John Day, near the end of last month. Felon arrested on multiple charges in Canyon City
CANYON CITY – Yesterday morning, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office contacted a subject in Canyon City, and as a result, one person was arrested. At approximately 9:18 a.m. on Tuesday, Christopher Boyer of John Day was arrested near the intersection of Adams Drive and US Highway 395 for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Firearm, and two additional charges that were not listed on dispatch logs. Nothing further was released regarding the incident.

TEC to hold meeting for laid off Prairie City mill workers
PRAIRIE CITY – Here is an update to the Prairie Wood Products Mill story. The mill is still shut down, but the Training and Employment Consortium will hold a meeting for PWP workers who are currently laid off.
