Oversized Load Traveling Through Eastern Oregon Starting Today
Motorists should expect nighttime delays of up to 20 minutes starting Monday, June 5, and continuing through mid-June on various Eastern Oregon highways and local roads. The Oregon Department of Transportation in a press release reported these delays will accommodate an oversized transport scheduled to travel during eight evenings as it moves from the Port of Umatilla to the Idaho border. The shipment consists of boiler equipment traveling 10-30 mph along segments of highways 730 and 37 and Interstate 84 in Pendleton, and highways 395, 26, 20, 78, 95 and other roads in Umatilla, Grant, Harney and Malheur counties.
Grant County Library closed due to plumbing issues

Long Creek to get new science textbooks
LONG CREEK – Long Creek School Superintendent Larry Glaze was on KJDY’s Coffee Time and said tomorrow will be the school’s budget hearing for adoption of the new budget:. “The situation of our budget is solid. We have enough money to cover the needs of the school district. We are adding a new science curriculum. We’re doing a new science textbook adoption next year, so that’s going to be a new thing for us.”
Fire Potential Outlook for June, July, August and September
EASTERN OREGON – The National Interagency Fire Center has issued information on the new four-month wildland fire potential outlook. According to the National Interagency Coordination, “The main objectives of the National Significant Wildland Fire Potential Outlooks are to improve information available to fire management decision makers. These assessments are designed to inform decision makers for proactive wildland fire management, thus better protecting lives and property, reducing firefighting costs and improving firefighting efficiency.”
Sheriff McKinley looking for info on murder suspect
JOHN DAY – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley was on KJDY’s Coffee Time recently. The Sheriff said his department is currently seeking information on a man who used to live here, and is now a murder suspect. According to McKinley, Robert Crosby, who goes by Bobby, first came to Grant County in 2017 with the Rainbow Gathering. He said Crosby got into trouble last year:

Remote detection system for wildfires expanding in Northeastern Oregon
LA GRANDE — Oregon Department of Forestry employees will be doing some heavy lifting in Northeastern Oregon forests in the next few weeks. Their work will have a heavyweight impact on the Blue Mountain Interagency Dispatch Center’s ability to help get wildfires put out in their infancy, according to Logan McCrae, the La Grande unit forester for ODF.
