With Measure 110 gutted, Eastern Oregon harm reduction group remains undeterred
Harm reduction in Pendleton sometimes begins with a folding table in a parking lot. On a recent March day, Crescencia Witherspoon and Brandy Anderson of the Eastern Oregon Center for Independent Living offered harm reduction supplies at a Salvation Army center in downtown Pendleton, where the charity serves a hot lunch daily. The foot traffic was brisk and EOCIL tried to catch patrons before they left with their food.
Sheriff McKinley confident with theft investigation
JOHN DAY – The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is still undergoing an investigation into a theft that occurred near Childress Loop and Highway 26, west of John Day, near the end of last month. Sheriff Todd McKinley was in the EMG Newsroom recently and said while he can’t give out details like what was stolen, he did say some good information has been coming in:
Felon arrested on multiple charges in Canyon City
CANYON CITY – Yesterday morning, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office contacted a subject in Canyon City, and as a result, one person was arrested. At approximately 9:18 a.m. on Tuesday, Christopher Boyer of John Day was arrested near the intersection of Adams Drive and US Highway 395 for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Firearm, and two additional charges that were not listed on dispatch logs. Nothing further was released regarding the incident.
No parking along Main St & S. Canyon Blvd. in John Day
JOHN DAY – The City of John Day, along with ODOT, are undergoing a city-wide cleanup in John Day Friday and Saturday, April 19th and 20th. During this time, folks are asked not to park along Main Street or South Canyon Boulevard in John Day to help ensure effective cleaning of the bike paths and the highway.
