Clover Island restaurant celebrates 50 years. Owners ready to pass the torch
In the last 50 years, a Tri-Cities waterfront restaurant has witnessed anniversary dinners, been the backdrop to proposals and hosted countless nights out with friends and family. Owners Doug and Carrie Lundgren have put together a month-long celebration to honor Cedars at Pier One’s legacy. In the background, they’re looking for someone new to take over the decades-old business on Clover Island. Celebrating Cedars To kick off the celebration, the Lundgrens want to recognize those special occasions shared at the restaurant. The first is a treasure chest where diners can write out their favorite Cedars memories. In December, the restaurant will pull some with prizes to be announced. They’re also inviting guests to bring photos of their favorite moments at Cedars and put them on the bulletin board. To honor all of the special occasions Tri-Citians have celebrated at the restaurant, the Lundgrens are throwing a prom-themed dinner. Dress in your finest formal wear and attend the Solar-Spirit -sponsored event, on Saturday, Nov. 14. Attendees can expect specialty drinks, appetizers and dinner specials. Then Block One Distillery will join the party for a Harvest Fest-themed evening on Saturday, Nov. 21. Special crafted cocktails and appetizers specials are on the menu.

Retail therapy meets sweet treats at these Tri-Cities boutiques
Shop and sip concepts are nothing new. Who doesn’t like retail therapy with a beverage in hand? Sometimes, shop and sip events are pop-ups at wineries or boutiques with craft cocktails, but the Tri-Cities has several places with non-alcoholic options to sip while you shop. As the weather gets colder and holiday shopping begins, these are some of the best one-stop shopping options in the Tri-Cities. Market North 200 Helm Dr., Pasco Market North started as a hobby for shop owner Britany Tapani. Before it opened six years ago, Tapani would host annual sales with friends at someone’s house. Eventually, the conversation turned towards opening a storefront of their own. Now, the market has home decor, children’s clothing, plants, coffee and more. In the warmer months, you-pick flowers are also available on the property. Tapani tries to support local as much as possible. “We’re always trying to find new vendors that fit our vibe,” Tapani said. The setup of the store makes it feel inviting and comfortable, with cozy, lived-in vibes. Adding to the homey feel of the market, is the coffee shop located in-house. “There’s definitely the people that come in, and they’re going straight for the coffee shop,”
