GUEST ROOM | Kotlikoff, Ban the Frats
Elise Carpenter '28 is a student in the Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Sciences. She is a member of Greek Life. She can be reached at esc229@cornell.edu. Many girls today are raised on the premise that if they work hard and get educated, they can escape the age-old system of being objectified by men. I believed it. I worked my way to the top of male-dominated organizations in high school and wrote one of my Cornell admission essays about the misogyny I endured along the way. Cornell was supposed to be a haven where I would be seen for my mind instead of my gender. Instead, I have found a sexist, degrading culture, and fraternities are to blame.

Editor’s Note: This is a guest commentary. The opinions do not necessarily reflect the views of the editorial board. Editorial: Ithaca College’s proposed school merger must consider alumni
Editor’s Note: The opinions presented in this editorial do not necessarily reflect the views of every editorial board member. Ithaca College’s proposed school merger could affect more than current students, faculty and staff. The college should consider whether consolidating schools truly makes administrative sense, but should also consider how the proposal could affect the reputations and identities of its five schools, and therefore how it could impact its relationship with alumni.
