Steuben County Has Hundreds Of Outages This Morning
The wind event from late Wednesday afternoon through this morning kept Steuben County 911 Dispatchers, local Fire Departments and highway crews busy handling tree and wire emergencies. Just over 50 calls for service were processed in addition to other emergencies. Hardest hit areas were Prattsburgh, Bath and Thurston. Electric Utility companies are working to restore the remaining 400 customers without power.
Gusty winds expected from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday
A storm system will impact our region this evening through Wednesday with showers and windy conditions. Winds will begin to pick up this afternoon from the south with gusts frequently reaching 30 mph. Stronger gusts likely tomorrow after the cold front passes. Most places could see frequent gusts near 40 mph, but areas under the High Wind Watch (Yates County) will experience gusts over 50 mph. There is the potential for few minor damages.
