MAHWAH — Council members voted 4-3 on Monday night to approve an ordinance establishing an affordable multi-housing overlay district at 457 Ridge Road. The vote followed an hour of testimony opposing the change by 17 speakers from a standing-room-only crowd of more than 100 residents. The speakers were mostly from nearby Ridge Gardens, a former affordable housing complex.
Police from North Caldwell and Cedar Grove Team up to Arrest Two Suspects After Car Burglary Attempts
NORTH CALDWELL, NJ -- Cedar Grove police took two suspects into custody and then turned them over to North Caldwell police for charges Monday night after two attempted motor vehicle burglaries. At 8:50 p.m. Monday, the North Caldwell Police Department notified Cedar Grove police that two suspects had attempted motor vehicle burglaries in North Caldwell before escaping on foot into the Park Ridge Estates in Cedar Grove. Assisted by state police, the Essex County Sheriff's Office, and the North Caldwell, West Caldwell, Essex Fells, Verona and Fairfield police departments, Cedar Grove police set up a perimeter. After a two-hour search, Cedar Grove police located the suspects, who were attempting to escape in an Uber. They ended up in the custody of the North Caldwell Police Department.
