Adrian approves homelessness pilot program 'Find a Way Home'
The Adrian City Commission approved a pilot program to help individuals affected by homelessness reconnect with family, rehabilitation programs or other support outside the city Nov. 2. Officials previously discussed modeling the effort after Kalamazoo’s “Finding Your Way Home,” which helps individuals affected by homelessness reconnect with family and other support systems. As of August 2025, that program had reunited nearly 70 people with their families since 2023, according to reporting by WWMT. Mayor Angela Heath said the goal of the new pilot is to help those who want to improve their circumstances by providing a safe destination. “To get them to that family, to get them to that rehab or whatever it might be,” Heath said. Commissioner Charles Moore questioned whether the program would serve solely city residents or others who've traveled from elsewhere and are staying at Share the Warmth. Heath said it could serve either, including local residents with family outside the area. Moore also questioned whether vacated shelter beds would simply be filled by other people.
