Riverside Boy’s Track Ready for State-Qualifying Meet After Great Showing at WIC Meet
(Oakland, IA) – At the Western Iowa Conference Boy’s Track and Field Championship on Wednesday, the Riverside Bulldogs were able to finish in a cozy third place with a total of 101 team points. The Bulldogs featured a total of three first-place individual finishers on Wednesday. Dawson and Brody Henderson were able to finish first as Dawson earned first in the 1600-meter at 4:48.80 and Brody earned first in the 3200-meter at 10:36.31. The boys’ distance medley team was able to capture first with a lot of other personal bests and broken conference records.
Sidney Takes Championship Title as Griswold Girls Earn Top Two Spots in Corner Conference Golf Tourney
(Sidney, IA) – At the Fremont County Golf Course on Wednesday afternoon, the Sidney Cowgirls were able to take the team victory while shooting 412 to win the Corner Conference Tournament. Right behind was Essex/Stanton at 537 and Fremont Mills earned third at 554. Griswold’s Linsey Keiser and Joanna Reynolds were able to take the top two spots for the Corner Conference Championship as Keiser shot 92 and Joanna Reynolds shot 98. Coming right alongside was Sidney’s Ellie Ward who shot just one over Reynolds with a 99 and Sidney’s Jocelyn Tackett earned fourth while shooting 100. (Des Moines) Severe Storms swept through southwest Iowa again Tuesday afternoon and evening. According to reports from the National Weather Service, 2” hail was reported southwest of Massena, damage to a tree and a house was reported near Creston, there was 1.75” hail reported near Lorimor and Green Valley Lake, 1” hail reported near Macksburg, Bagley and Riverton, and quarter size hail was reported in multiple locations in Adair County. We also received a report four miles southeast of Fontanelle of four inches of rain in about 25 minutes with overflowing roads and bridges and dime size hail.
Atlantic City Council Approves PRN Police Officer Position
(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council Wednesday evening approved the PRN Status Police Officer Opening, Job Description and Compensation. For the past two years, the Atlantic Police Department has struggled with the loss of senior officers, with staff levels reaching critical lows. City Administrator John Lund explained that PRN is a Latin term “Pro re NATA” which means “as the situation demands”. City Councilman Shawn Sarsfield said this position will provide relief to the officers that have remained.
