(Red Oak) Montgomery County Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 1700 block of K Avenue on Thursday, which led to the arrest of 40-year-old Zachary Morrison of Grant for driving under suspension. Deputies transported Morrison to the Montgomery County Jail and held him on a $491.25 bond.

Red Oak fire, police departments bringing bike rodeo to Inman Elementary
(Red Oak) -- Red Oak elementary students can learn all about bike safety early next week. That's because the Red Oak Fire and Police Departments and several other partners are putting on a Bike Rodeo at Inman Elementary from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through the Fire Prevention and Community Safety Program. Levi Kinnison is a firefighter-paramedic with the fire department. Speaking on KMA's "Morning Show" program recently, Kinnison says the free event promotes bicycle safety and is open to all 3rd through 5th graders.

On May 7th, 2024, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kisauo Stephen, 37, of Council Bluffs, on a warrant for Failure to Appear. Kisauo was transported to the Cass County Jail where he was booked and held.
FMTC urging interested Red Oak, Clarinda residents to sign up for fiber by Wednesday
(Red Oak-Clarinda) -- Interested residents of Red Oak and Clarinda are urged to sign up soon for a new fiber internet product coming to town this year. Farmers Mutual Telephone Company out of Stanton recently announced plans to bring their fiber internet product to roughly half of the Red Oak and Clarinda communities by the end of 2024. Doug Pals, the chief experience officer with FMTC, says they are asking interested residents in Red Oak and Clarinda to sign up by Wednesday. He says signing up by that date benefits both the crews installing the fiber and potential customers, including a more efficient construction process.

Montgomery County Deputies were called in to investigate and arrested 60-year-old Robert Wade Abraham on an active Montgomery County Warrant for domestic abuse assault, 2nd offense.

SUV vs Motorcycle Accident in Red Oak
(Red Oak) A Red Oak man suffered possible minor injuries in a SUV vs motorcycle accident in Red Oak. The Red Oak Police Department says the accident occurred in the 1400 block of North 4th Street at approximately 11:53 a.m. on Friday. 67-year-old Annette Archer, of Red Oak, was driving a 2014 Hyundai Tucson, backing onto North 4th Street from the alley on the east side of the roadway. Archer’s view was partially obscured due to parked vehicles along the road. As she was backing onto 4th Street, Archer failed to see a 2017 Harley Davidson being driven northbound by 55-year-old Ronald Lorenz, of Red Oak. Lorenz was unable to maneuver quickly enough to avoid a collision. The motorcycle struck the passenger side rear of the SUV and then tipped onto its side.
Red Oak council tabs Terracon to assist in Brownfields grant application
(Red Oak) -- Red Oak officials have backed filing a grant application to assess and clean up potentially contaminated properties. During its regular meeting this week, the Red Oak City Council unanimously approved working with Terracon to seek an Environmental Protection Agency community-wide assessment grant of up to $500,000 through the Brownfields program. The program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure law and grants money to cities for cleaning up buildings or for assessing and cleaning up abandoned properties that once managed dangerous chemicals. Frank Uhlarik is a Regional Brownfields Manager with Terracon. Uhlarik says the types of properties that could be dealing with some form of contamination can vary.

Red Oak council tabs contractor for housing subdivision infrastructure work
(Red Oak) -- Plans for a new housing subdivision in Red Oak took another major step forward Monday. During its regular meeting, the Red Oak City Council unanimously approved selecting Barcon, Inc. of South Sioux City, Nebraska, to conduct the dirt work and install the necessary public infrastructure for the Woodland Hills II Subdivision for just over $1.6 million. Barcon's bid came at the recommendation of JEO Consulting and was one of nine proposals submitted for the project--six of which were at or below the cost estimate of roughly $1.8 million. JEO Consulting's Daniel Sturm says they were pleased with the interest and prices for the project.
