West Lowell housing proposals pulled
(Shenandoah) -- Proposals for housing on two empty lots in Shenandoah have been scuttled. Shenandoah Mayor Roger McQueen told KMA News that Pierre Taylor withdrew his bids for lots at 1115 and 1117 West Lowell for $20. Speaking at a Shenandoah City Council meeting earlier this week, Taylor's proposal for 1115 West Lowell Avenue calls for construction of a three-bedroom, one bath structure for occupancy by August 1st, 2026. Though original plans called for construction of a garage at 1117 West Lowell, Taylor proposed building a smaller, three-bedroom unit instead. However, McQueen says Taylor later informed the city he is withdrawing his bids in order to go in a different direction. Council members tabled a decision on the property sales until the city's park and recreation board discussed the possibility of a park at that location. McQueen, a former member of the park board, says the idea of a park in that vicinity was discussed about six years ago, but died for lack of interest. He also cites the amount of money necessary for establishing a park with playground equipment.
