Closures planned for parts of 18th Ave SW & 6th St. SW starting July 28th
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — Parts of 18th Avenue Southwest and 6th Street Southwest will see some travel impacts on Sunday, July 28th. Starting at 9 a.m. that Sunday, city workers will close 18th Avenue Southwest at the 6th Street Southwest intersection near the Linwood Cemetery. They're also reducing the lanes on 16th Avenue Southwest at the 6th Street Southwest intersection, with drivers using the right turn lane.

KCRG reports that Atlanta-based cheeseburger chain Smalls Sliders is planning multiple locations in Eastern Iowa, prioritizing the cities of Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, Dubuque, Waterloo, and Burlington. While the company won't say which city will get the first Iowa location, you can expect the first Iowa location of Smalls Sliders to open in 2025.
