    April 30th Rain Totals and Storm Reports

    (Des Moines) Severe Storms swept through southwest Iowa again Tuesday afternoon and evening.

    According to reports from the National Weather Service, 2” hail was reported southwest of Massena, damage to a tree and a house was reported near Creston, there was 1.75” hail reported near Lorimor and Green Valley Lake, 1” hail reported near Macksburg, Bagley and Riverton, and quarter size hail was reported in multiple locations in Adair County. We also received a report four miles southeast of Fontanelle of four inches of rain in about 25 minutes with overflowing roads and bridges and dime size hail.

    The National Weather Service says more showers and storms are expected later today. Expect isolated to scattered activity to increase by this afternoon and evening, then periods of showers and storms become more widespread tonight and continue into Thursday. Widespread 1 to 2 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts are possible before the precipitation ends by Thursday night. The threat of severe weather is low at this time.
