Multi-Vehicle Wreck Tuesday snarls Ga. 365 Southbound Traffic
Units responded at 2:56 Tuesday afternoon, April 23, to a multiple-vehicle wreck on Ga. 365 southbound between Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway and Iron Ore Road. Four vehicles, including one towing a small boat on a trailer, were involved in the collision. Both southbound lanes were blocked for about 20 minutes, then one lane reopened. The road fully reopened at 4:30pm. Habersham County Emergency Services Med 21, Captain 1, and PIO responded, along with Demorest Fire Department Engine 5 and units from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office. One driver complained of injuries, but no one was transported from the scene for medical care. Georgia State Patrol Post 7 Toccoa is investigating.
Young Harris Scores Early, Wins 14-2 Over Lee
Young Harris College scored eight runs in the first two innings and never looked back in posting a 14-2 victory over the Lee baseball team at Zell B. Miller Field on Tuesday afternoon. It was the 12th straight win for the Mountain Lions who improved to 22-2 on their home field this season. Overall, the surging Young Harris team improved to 34-13 while the Flames dropped to 37-9. Coach Mark Brew will regroup his forces and get ready for a huge three-game GSC series at West Florida on Friday and Saturday. The Flames continue to lead the conference with a 21-6 record while the Argonauts are holding down third place with a 16-11 mark. It is the final conference series for both clubs.
Oak Crescent closed Wednesday
The City of Clayton reports that Oak Crescent will be closed on Wednesday, Apr 24, 2024, for road repair. The street will be closed to allow Toccoa Natural Gas to repair the road due to a recent line installation. Residents and business owners/employees may access the road from the northern entrance that is marked one-way. Please use caution. The city thanks you for your patience.
