Multiple students injured in school bus crash in Westchester County: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Multiple students were injured after a school bus crash in Yorktown, Westchester County, on Friday morning, according to police.

The Yorktown Police Department issued an advisory stating that Route 132 would be closed between Barger Street and Wildwoods Street due to a “motor vehicle accident.”

Police received multiple about a crash on Route 132 and upon arriving at the scene, officers found a two-vehicle collision at around 9:30 a.m.

Several people were injured in the crash, which involved a school bus, police said.

Those injured included five high school students who were on the bus during the crash and were transported to Westchester Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The bus driver was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police said preliminary investigations suggested that the SUV driver may have suffered a medical emergency, leading to the collision.

The driver of the SUV was also taken to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.

Authorities have asked the public to avoid the area.

The accident is still under investigation, and the roadway remains closed in both directions.
