3 men indicted for murder in separate St. Landry Parish cases
ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. — Carl Franklin Tates, Jeleel Washington, and Leonard Ratican were each indicted by the St. Landry Parish Grand Jury on March 15, 2024. Friday’s return indicted Carl Franklin Tates for the second-degree murder of Demetris Lincoln, both from Houston. August 16 of 2019 Demetris Lincoln was last seen alive by her family members at her home in Houston. Three days later, Lincoln’s body was found in a ditch near Exit 27 on I-49 in Washington. Lincoln was wrapped in a blanket, her hands were severed, but there was nothing found at the scene to identify her. Ultimately, a call-in tip, LSU Faces Forensic Imaging and Facial Approximation, along with DNA testing led to the identification of Lincoln and discovery of evidence linking Carl Franklin Tates to Lincoln’s disappearance. Tates is currently incarcerated in Harris County Jail, and he will be extradited to St. Landry Parish to face these new charges.
Houston police: Man shot multiple times in possible road rage on Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road
FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — A man was shot multiple times Monday in a suspected road rage incident along the Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road, Houston police said. Initial reports were that the man, who police said was in his 20s, was driving southbound on the toll road when he was shot multiple times, including in his head, police said. The man drove about 10 to 12 blocks before he crashed into a barrier near W Fuqua and came to a stop, police said.
