Man, 49, found dead with stab wounds inside Manhattan hotel basement

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD launched an investigation after a man was found dead with stab wounds in the basement of a lower Manhattan hotel on Sunday.

At approximately 11:13 a.m., police responded to the Public Hotel in the vicinity of Chrystie Street and Stanton Street, officials said.

Upon arrival, officers observed a 49-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive with multiple stab wounds.

EMS responded to the location and pronounced the male deceased on scene.

The identification of the deceased is pending proper family notification.

There have been no arrests made at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

The deceased was not a registered guest at the hotel, sources told The Post .
