Grand Jury Indicts Two Men for Local Man's Murder
SOMERVILLE, NJ - A Somerset County Grand Jury has indicted Daniel Matthews, 44, of Brooklyn, and Andrew Mumby, 47, of New Brunswick for the December 29, 2023, murder of Franklin resident Artis Young, 46, according to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald. Matthews and Mumby were indicted on charges of 1st degree murder, 1st degree felony murder, 2nd degree conspiracy to disturb human remains, 2nd degree disturbing human remains and two counts of 3rd degree hindering apprehension. Pedestrian Killed South Amboy
The man's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, South Amboy police said on Wednesday, April 24. On Wednesday, April 17 at approximately 4:15 p.m. South Amboy police responded to the intersection of South Broadway and John Street for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Police found a male victim lying in the roadway and began life-saving efforts. The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Death of Woman at Raritan Public Library Deemed Not Suspicious
RARITAN, NJ - Raritan Borough Police are investigating the death of a 44-year-old woman after she was found April 20 at 9:45 a.m. bleeding in the bathroom of the Raritan Borough Public Library, on East Somerset Street. According to Sgt. Everett Holt, the Somerville woman was found suffering from several self-inflicted wounds to her arms.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Officers started lifesaving measures, Holt said, and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital BLS and ALS units also responded to the scene to assist. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Holt said a preliminary report deemed the woman's death to be non-suspicious. The Northern NJ Regional Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy at a later date. SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ - Authorities have identified the two people who were killed in two separate motor vehicle accidents on Tuesday morning in South Brunswick Township. NEW BRUNSWICK – Rutgers police are investigating after receiving a report that a firework was thrown at people at the top of the College Avenue Parking Deck on Thursday night.
