LIMA, Ohio — Bryan’s softball team has gotten pretty comfortable at the district level the last few years. The Golden Bears secured a third consecutive district crown to prove it. Sophomore pitching standout Thea Staten fired a one-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts, while the Golden Bears got the bats rolling in multiple innings as No. 1-seed Bryan blanked No. 8 Napoleon 7-0 in a Division II district final on Saturday at the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima. “Our seniors have definitely done this before, and they know how to lead the team and guide us to those different big moments,” Bryan coach Samantha Molina said. “Super proud of them and all they’ve accomplished.”

Mansfield man who allegedly stabbed another man over an ex-girlfriend has trial pushed back
ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - The trial for a Mansfield man who is facing charges for a March stabbing has been pushed back until September 2024. 30-year-old Rocky Hayner signed a time waiver this week, and the judge has moved the trial back to the fall. His lawyer has asked that statements that he made during interviews with law enforcement be suppressed. A hearing will be held in July to discuss that motion.

Lima's Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority gives scholarships to 12 local students
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - 12 local high school students received scholarships from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority on Saturday. The Sigma Mu Omega chapter and the Sisters in Service Community Foundation awarded funds to students from Lima Senior, Perry, Shawnee, Elida, and Lima Central Catholic. LIMA, OH (WLIO) - 5th ward councilman, Thomas Jones, hosted his first community resource fair on Saturday. Unity in the Community Mending the Gaps gave Lima residents the opportunity to pick up information and talk to representatives from a variety of different organizations.
