Time to shine
Randy Fletcher brightens up the holidays for mid-Missouri every year when he decorates notable trees with tens of thousands of holiday lights. The annual tradition began at his home in 1995 when he decorated a crab apple tree in his yard. Since then, he's perfected the science of holiday tree lighting. He starts with green LEDs on the base, which appear brighter to the human eye, so that the trunk is still visible through colorfully lit branches. He's found his favorite color combinations, like pairing pink and orange to add a warmth and rosiness to his installations. Fletcher's designs often have white wires, which help reflect light at night and make them brighter in the day.
