There continues to be an outpouring of community support for the families of the two officers shot in Hermann on March 12. “I just want to say thank you to each and every person from Franklin, Gasconade counties, and beyond that have shown support for Detective Sergeant Mason Griffith and Officer Adam Sullentrup this last week,” said New Haven Police Chief Christopher Hammann, who worked with Sullentrup at NHPD and knew Griffith. “Both men dedicated their lives and careers to serve the communities in which they lived and worked. Fallen Officer Laid To Rest Sunday
Mason Griffith, the police officer who was fatally wounded in the line of duty March 12, was laid to rest Sunday. Griffith, 34, was a 2007 Sullivan High School graduate and detective sergeant at the Hermann Police Department, part-time police chief at Rosebud and reserve deputy at the Gasconade County Sheriff’s Office.
Two Gerald residents hurt in crash south of Washington
Two Gerald residents were hospitalized after being injured in a two-car crash in rural Franklin County on Tuesday, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The highway patrol reports that at 9:37 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, Douglas R. Vaughn, 47, of Gerald, was driving a 2002 Ford F250 truck northbound on Highway A. As Vaughn drove north, he failed to notice a vehicle had stopped in the roadway, waiting to make a left turn onto Pottery Road.

GASCONADE COUNTY, Mo. – A Berger driver dies from his injuries in a single-vehicle accident Sunday, March 19. A Missouri State Highway Patrol report indicates at approximately 1:30 a.m., southbound driver Markus R. Eldringhoff, 20, crossed into the northbound lane of Route J, 1.5 miles south of Highway 100. Eldringhoff reportedly overcorrected and struck a fence and tree.

A new judge is assigned to the murder trial of a man accused of shooting two Hermann police officers, one fatally. On Monday, Associate Judge Matthew Houston for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court was named as the new judge. Condo at Owensville resort damaged by fire
A condo at a Gasconade County resort is damaged by fire. The Gerald-Rosebud Fire Protection District reported that the Washington Fire Department and New Haven/Berger Fire Protection District were called to a first-alarm structure fire at the Lost Valley Lake Resort in Owensville Sunday. Those departments responded in place of the Gerald-Rosebud District, which was on funeral detail for the services for their police chief, Mason Griffith.
Simpson pleads not guilty, new judge to hear case
The man accused of fatally shooting one Hermann Police Department officer and seriously wounding another made his first appearance in court on Wednesday. Kenneth Simpson, 35, appeared in court via video livestream next to the public defender assigned to represent him. Simpson, who remains in the custody of the Crawford County Jail, plead not guilty to the charges against him.
