WHA girls split double-header at Nevis
Walker-Hackensack-Akeley and Nevis met in a conference showdown Friday on the Tigers’ home field. The visiting Wolves won the first game 5-4 in seven innings, and Nevis took the second 5-1 in five. Trishaw rides given at Lions 5M9 cabinet meeting
The Walker Lions hosted the 5M9 Cabinet meeting Sunday that included giving rides on the Trishaw. Approximately 50 Lions enjoyed a dinner of stuffed ravioli, Caesar salad, and bread stick catered by Lion Chris Thompson and Walker Lions. The meeting was chaired by outgoing District Governor Linda Ahlbrecht-Norby. Ahlbrecht-Norby talked about “Changing the Hearts of Lions” and also gave everyone some ideas to carry back to their individual clubs to promote “Lionism.” District 5M9 is situated in central Minnesota and consists of 62 Lions and four Leos Clubs. District 5M9 Lions has clubs in Aitkin, Becker, Cass, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Ottertail, Northern Todd, Wadena, and Wilkin counties.

LongBow Ladies Golf League May 8 Report
It’s finally golf season and the first day was under bright sunshine with shirtsleeve temperatures. The LongBow Ladies Golf League kicked off its 18-week season with a brunch at the Birchwood Char House in Hackensack May 8. The brunch and meeting was attended by 16 women, including two new members. At noon, 13 members teed off in a shotgun start at LongBow for an 18-hole best ball scramble. Winners with a 77 was a foursome of Mary Hagelie, Louise Hay, Dianne Larson and Cathy Wierzbicki.
Nevis boys pick up another home win; trounce Mustangs 14-4
Devan Lindow pitched four strong innings and allowed only one run on two hits while fanning seven as Nevis beat visiting Northome-Kellher 14-4 April 30.
