Kumpula started the business after seeing the building and instantly knowing what to do with it.

The old and the new
The Walker Rotary Club just lost a good share of it’s life’s blood. Thelma Grimley was the heart and soul of everything the organization stands for — service above self. Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary International, would have been proud to know one who abided so diligently by his doctrine: one profits most who serves best. Thelma had 27 years of perfect attendance in an organization that stood for everything she stood for, before she spent her last three years at an assisted living...

At Home in the Woods: Waiting for Spring
And now that the flowering had a week to progress in the trees, I expected the leafing would leap into action. But no. The very cool weather has kept back that leaf prgress and has simply allowed the flowering in the trees to flourish and held back the leafing, even though grass is coming on in good fashion. It has been a strange kind of spring. Now I see two or three small birds darting about in the hackberry tree near me, darting past but...

Male Ruffed Grouse Captured on His Drumming Log Near Itasca State Park
We are fortunate to live in an area where the lakes and woods surround us. Every day, nature goes about its seasonal routine. Signs of spring in the northern woods include the sounds of this male ruffed grouse as he spends time on his drumming log. The purpose of his drumming is to attract females, while announcing his territory to other male grouse in his woods.
