Hornell rail crossing blocked as train with mechanical issues halts
A train experiencing mechanical issues came to a halt in the City of Hornell on Monday, Sept. 18, and is currently blocking the East Avenue crossing near Park Drive. The Hornell Police Department posted a notice on the department's Facebook page around 11:30 a.m. The police department said railroad personnel are aware of the stoppage and "are working to resolve the issue." Hornell police said the crossing is expected to be cleared by Monday evening. In the meantime, motorists are advised to take alternate routes until the situation is resolved.
